Class Structure

Local to Bergen County NJ, I teach sourdough classes at my home for up to five people. Since sourdough is unique in the fact that it does take some time - here are the basics on how the class will flow.

Classes are two part. The first portion begins at 9am and goes through 11:30am. During this time I will guide you through the process as you make your own dough.

While the dough rests we will review:

  • Sourdough terms and definitions

  • How to care for your starter

  • How to score (cut) your dough

  • Materials and tools needed

  • Why sourdough is unique and healthier vs traditional breads

  • Q&A

The dough then goes through a long resting period in which you are able to leave and go about your day.

Class will resume at 1:30pm for about an hour where we will complete the hands on learning process. You will then leave here with your dough which will be ready to bake in your home the following day!

Airy Bread

What's Included.

All the ingredients needed to make the dough. You'll also go home with sourdough starter in a glass jar, a lame (razor to score your bread with), a bowl and bread-cloth for your dough to rise (proof) in overnight prior to baking. Best of all, I take care of all the clean up!

In addition, there will be a selection of fine teas and coffee, fresh sourdough bread and sourdough discard baked goods such as scones or muffins to enjoy as we go over sourdough learning and Q&A.

In order to complete the baking process you will need a 5 quart dutch oven in your home.

Thank you for your interest in my sourdough classes! If you any questions or need more information, please feel free to reach out to me via email or on Instagram. I'm here to help you on your sourdough journey!
